become a volunteer
Thank you for your inquiry and interest. You would be part of our team of over 90 volunteers who serve weekly at our centers. We have no paid staff, have no fundraisers, take no public monies and are supported by organizations, churches and people like you.
Volunteering as a counselor for Birth Choice involves a long-term commitment of at least a year. The training consists of five 3-hour classes held over 5 consecutive weeks. At the same time you would be assigned to a 3-hour shift at either our San Marcos or Oceanside location to get on-the-job training with a trainer. Completing the training can take up to 8-10 weeks, after which time you would be assigned to a 3-hour shift, once a week in either the Oceanside or San Marcos center.
We also ask that you commit to attend at least five of the nine in-service meetings we hold yearly. These meetings help us communicate new information, practice our skills and fellowship with our Birth Choice staff.
Because of our commitment to excellence in training you to be fully equipped for the work and because of the life-and-death nature of what we do, we ask that you consider prayerfully whether:
- God is calling you to the work
- You count the cost of the commitment involved
- Your family is supportive of your decision to serve
We encourage you to visit our center for a tour to become more acquainted with our ministry before you decide to continue with your training. Please contact our Executive Director either through this online form or by phone at 760.434.5063. We will be conducting training classes at various times throughout the year.
We look forward to hearing from you and thank you again for your interest.
